LAHORE - Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif has said nothing can be more important than service to the ailing humanity and hence, the provincial government has launched a welfare project like Sasti Roti programme for the poor people. This pro-poor people programme should be given a shape of movement and the poor service-spirited persons should be included in Sasti Roti programme, so that deserving persons could get their right. The Sasti Roti Authority should be made more active and efficient and financial and administrative powers should be given to it for running this programme in a more transparent and effective manner, he said, while presiding over a high-level meeting held with regard to review the Sasti Roti scheme here on Friday. Provincial Minister for Food Malik Nadeem Kamran, Chairman Sasti Roti Authority MNA Hanif Abbasi, MPAs Imran Nazir, Sarfraz Afzal, Coordinator Sasti Roti Rao Tahir Musharraf, Chief Secretary Punjab, Chairman Planning & Development Board, Secretaries Food, Industries, Information, Commissioner, DCO Lahore and concerned officials attended the meeting. While mentioning that he would personally preside over a meeting every month to review this welfare project, Shahbaz Sharif said that Sasti Roti Programme would be made more effective and transparent. He said that the role of mohalla committees for success of this programme was of great importance, and such persons should be included in the committees, who have the spirit of service and should take part in this programme actively. He said that his political and administrative team would have to play its effective role for this welfare programme. In future, entry in the ACRs of all divisional commissioners and district coordination officers should be made that how much interest they have taken in welfare programmes like Sasti Roti, he added. He said tandoors of Sasti Roti should be installed at railway stations, bus stands, hospitals and localities of poor and labourers where pulses and vegetable was available with Roti so that poor people could benefit from this programme. He said if in future any irregularity was found at Sasti Roti tandoor, its registration would be cancelled without caring any sifarish. He said a publicity campaign about Sasti Roti scheme should be launched. so that people could be informed about the tandoors of Sasti Roti. He directed the Commissioners and DCOs to constitute committees at mohalla level with consultation of MNAs and MPAs for running this programme as a movement. He directed Chief Secretary to hold a meeting every month for reviewing implementation of this welfare project.
