At least three Police Personnel, including an Station House Officer and an Assistant Sub Inspector have been killed while three others have been injured in an encounter with armed men on the outskirts of Peshawar. At least 8-armed men have also been killed in the incident. According to Police, Badabher SHO Muhammad Riaz, ASI Mir Salam and Constable Shakir were killed during the encounter in Sher Khan Bara Village in Badabher. Also, three other Police Personnel including Raj Wali, Moosa Khan and FC man Ikram Gul were injured. The encounter took place when police conducted a raid on miscreants' positions in Badabher at around seven in the morning, which continued for two hours. The injured were soon rushed to Lady Reading Hospital. At least eight miscreants were killed when Police retaliated with force. Later on, the residents of the area set ablaze the house of those who gave refuge to saboteurs and the Sheikhan Bazaar was closed down. Badabher is on the border of troubled Darra Adam Khel and Khyber agency and a number of miscreants and criminals have been living here for the last several years. In nearby Mardan, the security forces burned down a house of Taliban commander Imran in the Shergarah area, local sources said. Commander Imran, who had fled before the raid of the security forces over the house, was a member of outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Security forces arrested the owner of the house for further information. On the other hand, funeral Prayer of martyred Police Personnel were offered at Peshawar Police line and also attended by Governor NWFP Owais Ahmed Ghani, Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti and other senior civil and military officials. While talking to media men after Nimaz-e-Jinazah of martyred Policemen, Provincial Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti paid glowing tribute to the Police officials and announced compensation worth Rs. 3 million for heir of each Police Personnel. He also announced Plots for each victim family and employments for the children of martyred Police Personnel. Government is ready to render any sacrifice for the elimination of terrorism from the Province and Police force would be equipped with latest weapons, he added.
