KARACHI  - A division Bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) Monday issued notices to Prosector General (PG), Advocate General (AG) Sindh and others including former MPA Bilal Khar in an application seeking re-trial of Fakhra acid case.

After preliminary hearing of the application, filed by a group of NGOs, the bench comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui also ordered for preservation of relevant record of the case.

The counsel of the applicants Faisal Siddiqui has prayed the court to set aside the judgement of the trial court in the case as according to him the trial was not fair due to certain reasons.

He also prayed the court to order retrial of the case. The case was registered against former MPA Bilal Khar on the complaint of Shahida Malik on May 14, 2000 for attempted murder through acid throwing.

KESC asked to repair damaged PMT: Sindh Chief Secretary Raja Muhammad Abbas has asked the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) to improve the electric supply system in the city.

A statement here on Monday said that with reference to a complaint made by social workers M. Ayub Alwari and Qazi Noor-ul-Islam Shams, the Chief Secretary pointed out that the repair of the PMT at B& 51-B area Korangi which was damaged last week and repair has not been carried out as yet.

Raja Abbas asked the KESC authorities to expeditiously arrange the repair, as water and sewerage issue have also emerged in Eastern “B” area Korangi due to failure of electricity. He also asked the Commissioner Karachi Division to look into the matter and get the issue resolved.
