Pact to promote students skills

PESHAWAR - The University of Peshawar (UoP) and two non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have signed memoranda of understanding to promote entrepreneurship skills, work on peace building and enhance communication skills of students in two separate ceremonies held here on Wednesday.
The agreements, which will remain effective for one year, were signed by Vice Chancellor UoP Prof Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan and representatives of Initiative for Development & Empowerment Axis (IDEA) and Pakistan Youth Change Advocates. According to the first agreement, IDEA would work on improvement of the presentation and communication skills of the educated youth so that they can better present themselves in the job market. Moreover the students will be engaged in decision-making process and allowed to choose a path that suits their own interests, values and abilities.
Likewise, the Pakistan Youth Change Advocates would impart students with professional and technical support in developing proposals to be implemented in their communities.
Addressing the delegates the vice chancellor said that UoP would like to extend cooperation with any organisation that could contribute in the capacity building of their students. He viewed that jobs in the public sector were limited and therefore students needed to be equipped with latest trends in entrepreneurship to become job providers.
He underlined the need for engaging the youth in positive activities to negate the negative messaging in their minds.
