A visitor to Cholistan

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif recently visited the Bahawalpur area called Cholistan and made announcements about several development projects here. This is a good move but should have been done before Muhammad Ali Durrani started showing this fangs. Anyway, it is never too late. The only objectionable thing is that CM Sahib used the word 'Cholistanis' instead of 'people of Cholistan'. There is a lot of difference in the meaning of the two words. Another objectionable thing is that he declared that no outsider would be allowed to come to Cholistan. I thought he supported the constitutional view that all Pakistanis can live and work wherever they wish in the country. In other words, Mr. Sharif is promoting provincial and ethnic hatred in the Seraiki area. -Z. ISRAR, Karachi, via e-mail, July 25.
