Islamabad in National Women Football semis

ISLAMABAD Five-goal Mejzgaan Orakzai showed goal-scoring prowess as Islamabad moved into the semi-final of the sixth National Womens Football Championship on Sunday night here at Jinnah Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex. They thrashed Khyber PK 12-0 in the first quarter-final. Later on, in the second quarter-final, 2007 national champions Sports Sciences eliminated Karachis Diya Club 2-0 with two first-half goals. Daughter of Islamabad Football Associations President Dr. Fazal Ur Rehman Orakzai is the leading scorer with seven goals. She smashed five goals in the massive win while she managed three goals in the match, becoming first hat-trick maker of the show. Orakzai, silver medalist in the 2006 event, gave Islamabad 10th minute lead and added further goals in the 26th, 30th, 60th and 66th minute, becoming second hat-trick maker after midfielder Shumaila recorded hat-trick in the nine-minute spell. Her goals went into scoreboard in the 14th, 19th and 22nd minute. Midfielder Naval raised her tally to three with two goals in the match in the 17th and 39th minutes. Winger Muniza Shahid and front-runner Abeha Haider completed the rout with goals in the 55th and 61st minute respectively. Punjab Universitys Sports Sciences Department, which lost to Irans Malavan Bandar Anzali last year, defeated Diya FC 2-0. Striker Ayesha Hassan, dangerous striker of University team, struck her fourth goal of the 12-team show when she rose above everybody to head winger Hira Dawoods cross past Diya keeper in the third minute. It was big set back for Diya which conceded another goal in the 17th minute when Shagufta Akhtar cut in from left and slammed the ball into left corner. It was Shaguftas third goal of the event. Diya also created chances but striker Hajra Khan missed good chances in the 23rd and 56th minute while winger Maryam Laghari floored opportunities in the 21st and 46th minute. There will be no match on Tuesday. The semi-finals are being scheduled for August 4 while third-place match and final will be played on August 5.
