LAHORE At least three cars and 11 motorcycles were stolen away from the premises of Mayo Hospital during the last one month, police and hospital sources said here Tuesday. The police have badly failed to nab the gangsters involved in auto-lifting inside the largest public hospital of the Punjab province. Two cars of doctors while another of a visitor were taken from the hospital parking-lots during the last one month and 11 motorcycles were also stolen away during the same period. Hospital officials claimed that they arrested a thief red-handed and later handed him over to the police concerned. But neither the police recovered the stolen vehicles from his possession not registered any case against him. The victims have appealed to the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif to take notice of the rising crime incidents and also against the police officers for leaving the people at the mercy of robbers. Upgradation Jinnah hospital police chowki: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir on Tuesday announced up-gradation of police Chowki at Jinnah Hospital and claimed that it would be turned into a model police post. He made this announcement during his visit to Allama Iqbal Medical College on Tuesday. He also met the principal and all members of academic staff of the college on this occasion. The principal Professor Dr Javed Akram, DIG Operations Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, City Traffic Officer Lahore, Captain (retd) Mubeen and SP Model Town Awais Ahmad were also present during the meeting. Meanwhile, Dr Javed Akram also announced free-of-cost medical treatment for police personnel and their family members at the hospital.
