QUETTA - Over 50 suspects were apprehended during a search operation in separate parts of Sariab on Tuesday in connection with sectarian targeted killings in the City. The Frontier Corps (FC), police and personnel of Anti-Terrorism Force (ATF) took part in the operation. The helicopters also provided help to the troops engaged in house-to-house search in Killi Kamalo and Killi Qambarni area of Saryab. The siege and search was mounted in some areas after a decision which was taken at a high-level meeting of police, FC and other law enforcement agencies over increasing sectarian attacks. As many as 18 people were killed in two separate incidents of sectarian targeted killings on July 29 and August 1 while two others were killed during the violent protests against the killings. The outlawed Lashkar-i-Jhangvi had claimed responsibility for both the attacks. Officials said the search operation would continue for few more days. Police have rounded up more than two hundred suspects during the past three days. Sources said more than 50 suspects were taken into custody from different areas of Sariab, adding those who had no connection with the killings would be released after interrogation.
