PESHAWAR - Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Masood Kausar on Tuesday said the promotion of education and health facilities and creation of employment opportunities for the youth of Fata were the three basic priorities of the government. Youth of Fata is the focus of our attention as well because being custodian of our future, they are the most valuable national asset and we have to provide them better environment and bright future prospects, He said while addressing award distribution ceremony for the position holders - in SSC and HSSC examinations 2011 - of Khyber Agency here at Governors House. Parents, teachers of the respective educational institutions and position holders students attended the meeting besides the Political Agent Motahar Zeb and officials of education department Fata. The governor earlier distributed cash prizes among the male and female students who clinched first, second and third positions among the students of Khyber Agency in the Secondary School Certificates and intermediates annual examination 2011. In SSC examinations Fauzia and Sundas Afridi of GGHS Jamrud and Hajira Asghar of GGHS Karigar Garhi Bara stood first, second and third respectively in female candidates whereas in male candidates Abdul Baseer Khan of GHS No 2 Jamrud, Haider Ali of GHSS Jamrud and Hamid Nawaz of GHS Paindi Lalma Jamrud clinched first, second and third position respectively. Similarly in the Intermediate examination 2011 in the female candidates of Khyber Agency Miss Salma of GGDC Jamrud stood first, Hina Nawab and Laiba of GGHSS Landikotal jointly stood second and Zara Zaman of GGDC Jamrud stood third whereas Sabir Khan of Bara, Rashideen of Landikotal and Sufyanh of Bara were awarded prizes for winning first, second and third positions amongst the students of Khyber Agency who had appeared in the Intermediate examination. The governor congratulated the awardees students, their parents and teachers and said that such ceremonies encouraged the students to work hard and win distinctions. This creates a spirit of competition among the students, which finally results into the consistency of education that benefits the students in their future career and life, he said. The Governor describes sports and extra and co-curricular activities as equally important for the physical and mental nourishment of the students, adding that he had issued directives for holding regular sports competitions and providing better sports atmosphere to the students as well as youth of Fata. The governor said that Fata was rich in mineral resources. Allah Almighty gifted this part of the land with enormous natural as well as human resources. We will make Fata a place, which every Pakistani would be proud of, the governor remarked. He said that situation that prevailed over the recent years had greatly damaged the educational and health infrastructure in Fata besides overall development activities. We have overcome the problem to a great extent as peace has been restored in majority areas. The remaining few pockets, he added would also be cleared off with the active cooperation and support of the local tribesmen. The Governor said that a new era of peoples active participation in their developmental and social matters was in the making in FATA. I have directed the Political Administrations to be people-friendly and take the tribesmen along in all the matters that are directly or indirectly related to their welfare and development, the Governor said adding, and we want the tribal people to fully participate in the development activities.
