LAHORE PML-N President Nawaz Sharif has observed the role of those conscientious judges who took oath under the Provincial Constitutional Order of a dictator will be remembered forever. Today the judiciary is independent but it is a must that its decisions be implemented in totality, and there should not be any interference or delay in this regard since an independent judiciary can play in important role in bringing stability to the country, he demanded, while talking to former Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui, who called on Nawaz Sharif at his Raiwind residence on Tuesday. He presented his book titled 'Jinnah Anthology. Justice Siddiqui appreciated the historic role of the PML-N, civil society and lawyers for the restoration of the judiciary. He was one of those judges, who declined to take oath under the PCO when he the CJP in 1999 when military coup dtat was staged by the then Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of Army Staff General Pervez Musharraf. He defied the request by saying, taking oath under the PCO, in my opinion, will be a deviation from the oath I had taken to defend the constitution of 1973. As a consequence, he was forced to step down from his position by Musharraf.
