PML-N has started mulling over resigning from Assemblies and Senate, a private TV channel reported on Tuesday citing party sources. The sources said the PML-N might recommend dissolving Punjab Assembly as well. If the PML-N decides to resign, Senate elections may be deferred. As per the Constitution, Senate elections will take place in March and PPP is certain to win elections under present circumstances if elections are held. According the PML-N sources, decision regarding resignations would be finalised in mid-December so that the government is not left with any space to hold by-elections. Thus, Senate elections will be held in abeyance. Sources claimed PML-N would begin contacting political parties after resignations in their bid for new elections. The party is holding consultations with other political parties in this connection. In case Punjab Assembly is dissolved on advice by Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, he will act as caretaker CM, which will ultimately benefit PML-N.
