Unfortunately, during the last five years, and the years before that, destroyed all institutions in the country, which weakened the very foundation of the governance system. However, the Punjab Government’s current drive against the pilferers of gas and electricity is well appreciated, as it’s a giant step towards sorting out big thieves. But in order to run the organisations on sustainable basis, it is imperative to rebuild the organisations. The structure of energy companies should be strengthened by hiring honest, dedicated and efficient staff that could not be corrupted by the big fish.

Although, Punjab government’s efforts in controlling gas and electricity theft are commendable but, I believe, the government should also concentrate on rebuilding energy companies, both institutionally and organisationally, so that they could efficiently serve the purpose of their existence. This will be a sustainable solution.
