LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said land record computerisation project, to be completed by 2014, will rid the people of Patwar culture.

Presiding over a meeting to review the pace of progress on land record management information system here Friday, he said no compromise would be made on the construction standard of the service centres for the project.

The chief minister told the meeting that land record computerisation project was very important to the people for acquiring ownership and transfer deeds of their property and all out resources were being utilized for the speedy completion of the project.  He said after computerisation of land record Fard will be available in 30 minutes only. He said 61 service centres were working on land record computerisation while the process of data entry of 17,000 villages of 21 districts had been completed. He said poor efficiency and laxity would not be tolerated and all possible measures would be taken for the speedy implementation of the project. Shahbaz said that more assistant directors land revenue would be recruited through Public Service Commission. The chief minister while directing divisional commissioners and DCOs to verify the record at the earliest for computerisation of land record, said a modern system was being introduced in place of the exploitative system which would provide relief to the people and eliminate corrupt mafia.

On the occasion, the chief minister also directed to constitute a cabinet committee headed by provincial minister for local government and law for checking fraud in the name of consolidation of land which would submit its report within a month.

He said the officers showing good performance in the land computerisation project would be encouraged. Shahbaz also directed that report of the third party audit into the project should be presented and the district officers should ensure provision of lost record at the earliest. Chairman planning and development gave a briefing about the progress being made on land record management information system.
