RAWALPINDI - The City District Government of Rawalpindi (CDGR) put all the civic bodies, flood control rooms and Rescue 1122 on high alert to cope with any emergency as the water level in Nullah Leh was recorded 6.7 feet at Katarian and 6.53 feet in Gawalmandi.

According to Meteorological Department, Rawalpindi received 44 mm rain with minimum 26 and maximum 28 degree centigrade temperature in last 24 hours. The heavy rain turned the streets into ponds and got the drains and nullahs blocked, exposing the bad performance of civic bodies. It also damaged transformers and uprooted trees in different areas. Moreover, the traffic remained off on roads. Taxi and rickshaw drivers minted money from passengers as per their own will. The City Traffic Police seemed helpless in smoothening traffic flow.
