LAHORE - Bad weather disrupted flight schedule at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, a civil aviation official said on Saturday.
Several flights were delayed causing problems to passengers  the official said, adding that PIA flight PK-204 – coming from Dubai – landed five hours behind schedule while Multan-Lahore flight PK-683 faced two-hour delay.  Similarly, PIA flights PK-654, PK-306, PK-307 and PK-684 were delayed up to six hours.
Thundershowers forecast
Parts of the country received scattered rains on Saturday, providing respite to the people from the prevailing muggy weather though for a short period. Experts have predicted more monsoon rains during the next couple of days.
Rains, cloudiness and winds caused considerable decrease in the mercury level, making weather pleasant though for a short period. Rain-thundershower occurred at scattered places in Sindh, Punjab, Northeast Balouchistan and Khyber PK and at isolated places in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Dalbandin remained hottest place in the country where mercury rose as high as 42 degree Celsius. Maximum temperature in Turbat was recorded 41 C, Dadu, Sukkur and Nokkundi 40 C.  In Lahore, maximum and minimum temperature was recorded 36 C and 24 C respectively. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded 55 per cent.
Strong winds started blowing in the morning that followed by rainfall of varying intensities, submerging roads and streets not only in low lying areas but also in several posh localities into knee deep water. Traffic jams were witnessed on important roads due to inundated rainwater on portions, roadsides and slippery conditions.
According to the experts, seasonal low lies over west Balochistan and adjoining areas with its trough extending southeastwards. Light to moderate monsoon currents are penetrating into upper parts of the country.
The meteorological department has forecast rain-thundershower at isolated places in Kashmir, Islamabad, Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Multan, Sahiwal divisions), Khyber PK (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat divisions), Lower Sindh (MirpurKhas, Karachi, Hyderabad divisions), Baluchistan (Zhob, Kalat, Sibbi divisions) and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 24 hours. Hot and humid weather is expected in other parts of the country.
On Saturday, Noorpurthal received 40 mm rain, Karachi 39 mm, Bhakkar 36 mm, Badin 23 mm, Parachinar 19 mm, Sibbi 17 mm, Murree 10 mm, Shaheed Benazirabad and Mirpurkhas 09 mm each, Malamjabba, Chhor and Kakul 07 mm each, Zhob and Jhang 06 mm each, Lahore 05 mm, Thatta , Mianwali, Mutan and Rawalakot 04 mm each and Risalpur 03 mm.
