SWABI - A policeman and a militant were killed and two policemen including a sub-inspector got injured in an encounter in Utla region on Tuesday, said the District Police Officer, Javid Iqbal.

Then encounter took place near the boundary of district Buner where Pakistan Army conducted operation in 2009.

DPO Javid said that the police were conducting a search operation in Dadoo village, which is situated in jurisdiction of Utla Police station, but the police party suddenly got the known militant.

As the police party raided the area, the militant Anwar Saeed, who was incidentally present there, opened indiscriminate fire at police.

The DPO said that police retaliated with full vigour to protect themselves and block the escape route of the terrorist under the cover of firing.

The killed policeman Javid Khan who belonged to Sheikh Jana villager was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard.

Police finally succeeded to silence Anwar Saeed and his two brothers surrendered soon after his killing.

DPO Javid said, “We have arrested Malik Hussain, and Innyat Hussain, two brothers of the killed terrorist and shifted them to an unknown location for further investigations.”

He said that an FIR has also been registered against terrorists in Utla police station.

The injured sub-inspector is identified as Tariq Khan and constable Sajjad Khan. Both have been taken to Bacha Khan Medical Complex Shahmansoor.

Police have recovered one each Kalashnikov and hand grenade and three pistols from the alleged militant custody.

Meanwhile district traffic police have challaned 7289 vehicles in the month of July and collected Rs 2.4 million from them.
