Layyah-A youth allegedly chopped off the nose and lips of his cousin in the name of honour in Tehsil Choubara here on Tuesday.
The police said that 17-year-old Muhammad Nasir chopped off the nose and lips of his cousin 25-year-old Mubashara with an axe for honour. The injured woman was rushed to District Headquarters Hospital Layyah where she is being treated. The police arrested the accused who has confessed to his crime. Later, the police produced the accused in a local court and got his four-day remand.
Talking to The Nation Choubara Police SHO Abdul Majeed said that the police arrested the accused immediately and that he has confessed his crime. The police have launched further investigation into the case to ascertain the fact leading to the gruesome incident.
Meanwhile, due to lack of plastic surgery facility in the DHQ Hospital Layyah, the doctors have advised the women to go to a hospital in Lahore or Islamabad where the facility of plastic surgery is available. The injured woman told this reporter that she belongs to a very poor family and could not afford plastic surgery as it would incur a huge amount. She appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to help her ensure free treatment.
