LAHORE  -  Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad Akhtar has announced that 100,000 trees would be planted on campuses as part of univeristy administration’s vision to play its role in protection of environment.

He made this announcement while launching tree plantation drive at Institute of Agricultural Sciences on Thursday.  PU Institute of Agricultural Sciences Director Prof Dr Saleem Haider, Punjab Forest Department Chief Conservator Muhammad Farooq, Punjab University Academic Staff Association President Dr Mehboob Hussain, faculty and students were present.

Talking to the media, the vice chancellor stressed the need for conserving environment. He said that the Punjab University administration with the help of students would also step up efforts for creating awareness among the public.

Also, the Punjab University has awarded PhD degree to Atifa Usmani in the subject of Home Economics after approval of her thesis entitled “Analysis of Maxim’s Cartoons as a Pictorial Satire”.
