Peshawar   -  A local court on Monday granted interim bail to an accused in the Deans Trade Centre firing case in which two persons were killed, while people suffered traffic jams in the provincial capital on Monday as the main Saddar Road remained blocked for more than seven hours due to a protest demonstration against the killings.

President of local traders union “Tajir Insaf” Shahid Khan, told The Nation that the deceased, Khairullah Mohmand and Inayatullah Safi, belonged to Mohmand and Safi tribes and the road was blocked outside Deans Trade Centre, the place where the killings had taken place.

“Today both the tribes, accompanied by traders, blocked Saddar Road for all kinds of traffic, demanding arrest of the culprits of firing and resultant killings,” he said.

Almost all roads in the provincial capital witnessed traffic jams and people faced immense problems as a result of road blockade in Saddar, particularly patients, women and children.

Meanwhile, in a CCTV footage of Friday’s firing incident shared on social media, several men are seen holding a meeting in Deans Trade Centre when some people enter the room and start beating up the meeting participants; in the meanwhile, some of the intruders also fire shots on two persons, who die of the bullet wounds later on.

The firing came as a result of dispute over the electricity tariff decided by the management of Deans Trade Centre for shopkeepers of the venue.

Accused granted interim bail:  Meanwhile, Additional District and Sessions Judge Tahir Aurangzeb on Monday granted interim bail to Noor Elahi, security in-charge of Deans Trade Centre, after his lawyer told the count that the petitioner was not present in the centre at the time of the killings.

Other accused in the case are Junaid Khan, Nasrumminallah, Muhammad Rehman and Sadaqat, who were at large till the filing of this report.
