RAWALPINDI - One more Punjab Evacuee Departments brutality affected child of nomads has died due to spending night in severe cold on Thursday morning bringing the death toll of homeless children to three. The deceased child has been identified as Ali, 3. Three days before, Evacuee Department Rawalpindi along with police conducted a raid at Katchi Abadi located at Farooq-e-Azam Road, near Government Hashmat Ali Khan Boys College, Dhoke Kala Khan and demolished 200 mud houses making scores of inmates homeless. Police Station (PS) Sadiqabad officials on resistance showed by the residents resorted to baton charge and broke the leg of young girl while the condition of six other residents was reportedly critical as they had no roof to keep themselves safe from bitter cold. Due to hard iciness, two children; three and half years old Bano and two months old Hina also died on Wednesday. On resistance, police resorted to baton charge at the residents of the Katchi Abadi and broke leg of 15-year-old Sajida besides injuring many. The homeless residents of Katchi Abadi protested against the brutality of Evacuee Department and police and termed PML-N MNA Hanif Abbasi, responsible of killings of three innocent children. They told that they have been residing on this land for last 44 years. They alleged that this precious land came into the eyes of PML-N MNA Hanif Abbasi and other land grabbers during an inauguration ceremony of water tank and after they (PML-N land grabbers) planned to occupy this land. In a bid to occupy the land, they ordered operation to demolish their houses, they added. They demanded Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif to take notice of this injustice. PML-N MNA Hanif Abbasi, despite several attempts made by this scribe, was not available for his comments on the issue.
