5 killed, 25 injured in road mishap in eastern India

At least five people were killed and 25 others injured in a major road mishap in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal Friday, said police. The mishap happened when a bus in which the victims were traveling rammed into a stationary truck at Suidi More on National Highway 2 near Asansol town in the state, said police. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital where the condition of three are said to be serious. Road accident rate in India is among the highest in the world with at least 100,000 killed each year on the road.
