ISLAMABAD - National Assemblys Standing Committee on Health has asked the Ministry of Health to provide the break-up of the expenditures incurred on the Parliamentarians and per bed expenditures at PIMS and Policlinic Hospital. The meeting of the Standing Committee on Health here on Thursday under the chairmanship of Dr Nadeem Ehsan while Parliamentary Secretary for Health Dr Mehrin Razzaq Bhutto, Hanif Abbasi, Dr Ghulam Haidar Samejo, Begum Shehnaz Sheikh, Dr Tariq Fazal, Reena Kumari, Dr Lal Chand and Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, Minister for Health, Secretary Health also attended the meeting. The Ministry during meeting informed the committee that Ministry of Health was executing 82 development schemes with PSDP allocation of Rs19.944 million during the current financial year. Major allocation of the PSDP is for National Programme for Family & Primary Health Care, National Expanded Programme on Immunisation, National Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Programme and PM Programme for Prevention and Control of Hepatitis, the Ministry said. In the current financial year 7 percent funds are released by the Planning Division every month instead of previous practice of release of funds on quarterly basis by the Finance Division. The funds released by the Planning Commission is Rs.3521million which is 25 percent of the allocation whereas it should be 42 percent, representatives of Ministry of Health said. The Committee was also briefed about hospital wise budget of six Federal Government hospitals including the budget allocation for drugs 7 medicines. The Committee also discussed the impact of development of health sector to provinces. The Committee members unanimously recommended that the drug registration, its pricing, communicable and epidemic disease report issues should remain with the Federal Government.
