Our Staff Reporter BAHAWALNAGAR - The committee, constituted to probe the fire incident in utility store at Attique Plaza, has established charges of misappropriation and dereliction that resulted in the loss Rs5.1 million. According to the inquiry committees findings, misappropriation and dereliction of duty resulted in embezzlement of USC money amounting Rs5.1 million. The committee also held responsible USC Attique Plaza branch In-charge Mohammad Riaz for the all wrongdoings. The inquiry report said that Riaz had clearly violated the Head office instructions. The report said that he (In-charge) was a habitual embezzler of government money and had also been found absent from duty regularly. He was also held responsible for burning record and poorly maintaining inventory of the store. The report also read that he always been failed to deposit sales money timely. After establishing anomalies, the committee recommended serving show cause on Mr Riaz as to why one of the major penalty as laid down in service rules of Utility Store Corporation should not be imposed upon him on the charge of gross negligence, inefficiency and dereliction of duty. It has been learnt that being the US Attique Plaza In-charge Riaz was responsible for all operational activities of the store and had to ensure that laid down system was properly implemented at all level. But he failed to do so, which reflected gross negligence and dereliction of assigned duties and responsibilities on his part. The probe committee was comprised of General Manager (Vigilance Utility Store Corporation Head Office) Raja Mohammad Ejaz and Audit Manager Allah Nawaz.
