OUR STAFF REPORTER SAHIWAL - Tolerance, brotherhood and peace are guarantees of the survival of a state and all the people should abide by these principles on special occasion when there is conflict of opinion among different religious sects. This was stated by DPO Rana Muhammad Ayaz Saleem while talking to media persons. He said to maintain peace during Muharram, district administration was playing a constructive role, but it was also the duty of masses to exercise restraint to promote brotherhood. He said that an effective and strong a security plan had been chalked out. Given the details of plan, he said that he had convened meetings of Ulema belonging to different schools of thoughts to get the cooperation of all sects. He said that the plan had been finalised with cooperation of Rescue 1122, Wapda, Health Department and TMA. The DPO said that search operations had also been conducted to keep a vigilant eye on the suspicious elements. He said that public gatherings on the roofs, use of load speakers, sectarian speeches, distribution of pamphlets and open display of arms had been banned during this holy month, adding, police personnel would be provided wireless sets and tear gas shells to control any untoward incident. The DPO further informed the media that Sahiwal had been divided into three sectors, which included city Sahiwal, Sadar Circle and Chichawatni and 720 Razakar and 1,128 volunteers would do security duties. Foolproof security on Ashura: All-out efforts are being made to make the security arrangement foolproof on 9th and 10th of Muharram in the district, DCO M Asif said. He has appointed Allah Ditta Warraich, DO (HRM) Muhammad Asad and Abdul Salam as focal persons to monitor the situation in the district on 8th, 9th and 10th of the holy month. He appealed the citizens to keep vigilant eye over dubious character & intimate.
