LAHORE - Train march against shambling, downsizing and privatisation of Pakistan Railways has been concluded here at Lahore Railway Station. According to a press release issued here on Friday, the train march led by Rail Mazdoor Ittehad Senior Vice President Sheikh Mohammed Anwar and flanked by other leaders of union including Sarfraz Khan, Anayat Ali Gujar, Waqar Qamar, Ch Khalid Mehmood, Muneer Sultan, Hamid Malik and Rafiq Bhatti when reached at Lahore, a large number of Railways workers warmly welcomed them and garlanded them with roses. Addressing to a mammoth gathering at Railway station, Sheikh Anwar pledged that departments workers would not let any body to derail or privatise Railways rather they would sacrifice for the sake of departments betterment which is sole cheap means of transportation of 170 million people of the country and serving over 0.6 million armymen. The speakers of train march vowed that railway workers from across the country would assemble at Lahore Railway Station and would hold a sit-in (dharna) on December 21 under the leadership of Hafiz Sulman Butt. They further informed the gathering that workers of all political parties including PML-N, PPP, Muslim League (Q), MQM and ANP would also be invited to participate in the sit-in, they added. After reaching at Lahore Station, the leaders and workers of train march offered funeral prayer in absentia for those armymen who martyred in Nato attack and burnt effigy of US President Obama against the unprovoked firing. The speakers also demanded the government to announce its separation from the so-called war on terror and stop logistic facilities to Nato once for all, they added.
