KARACHI - As many as 866 sub-inspectors appointed from 1987 to 1993 were promoted to the rank of inspector on Friday.

According to a report, 1,047 candidates were found eligible for promotion, but 180 of them could not get promotion due to some departmental reasons. Of the sub-inspectors who were not promoted, 74 were from Karachi, 20 from Hyderabad, 24 from Mirpurkhas, 11 from Shaheed Benazirabad, 33 from Sukkur and 19 from Larkana. Of those promoted, 387 were from Karachi, 162 from Hyderabad, 76 from Mirpurkhas, 73 from Benazirabad, 69 from Sukkur and 99 from Larkana Police Range.

 It is worth mentioning here that Sindh Police is facing shortage of inspectors.

Recently, police high-ups removed all sub-inspectors who were working as inspectors at various police stations.
