Lahore: The issues between bars and the Lahore High Court (LHC) were resolved in a meeting chaired by Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah yesterday.

Talking to the media, the representatives of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), Punjab Bar Council (PbBC), Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) and Lahore Bar Association (LBA) along with Registrar LHC Syed Khurshid Rizvi said that all issues between the bars and the LHC had been resolved and the lawyers would participate in the sesquicentennial celebrations of the LHC. The LHC registrar said the LHC chief Justice would exercise powers under Section 54 of the Legal Practitioners and Councils Act 1973, alone in future, whereas the supervisory committee would not play any role in this regard.

He further said that the PbBC would decide the reference against Rana Saeed in accordance with law and it would withdraw its earlier order regarding suspension of reference sent by the LHC. PBC members including Muhammad Shafiq Bhandara, Tahir Nasirullah  Warriach, Maqsood Buttar, Ch Ishtiaq A Khan  besides Vice Chairman PbBC Ch Muhammad Hussain, Chairman Executive Committee Mumtaz Mustafa and others attended the meeting.
