KARACHI - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has issued notices to the food secretary and 16 others for their failure to come to office on time. “I believe in punctuality. If an officer cannot reach his office by 9:30am, he should sit at home rather than performing duty,” he said.  He said this during a surprise visit to New Sindh Secretariat Friday morning. He went from floor to floor right from the first to the sixth floor and found most of the officers, including the food secretary, absent.  Taking notice of the absence of Food Secretary Sajaad Abbasi, the chief minister directed his principal secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch to issue him a notice, asking him to explain his absence.

“This is unacceptable. If the secretary, who is head of the department, cannot reach office in time, how will his subordinates turn up on time?” he asked. He also noticed that some 16 senior officers of different departments were absent. He directed their secretaries to issue them show-cause notices and report to him. “This is the last chance I am giving to the lethargic officers,” he warned.
