Int’l Day of Persons with Disabilities observed

ISLAMABAD: The International day of Persons with Disabilities (PDW) was observed around the world today to promote awareness of disability issues, fundamental rights of PWDs and their integration in mainstream.

In this connection, in Pakistan, Directorate General of Special Education, Government of Pakistan has organized a grand program in the Auditorium of Pakistan National Council of Arts, Islamabad.

In this program the special students studying in the special education centres/institutions will highlight the skills, trainings through their performances in shape of Tableaus, National songs and heart touching performances in the light of 17 Sustainable Goals of United Nation.

Since 1992, the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) has been celebrated annually on 3 December around the world.

The theme for this year’s International Day is “Achieving 17 Goals for the Future We Want”.

This theme notes the recent adoption of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the role of these goals in building a more inclusive and equitable world for persons with disabilities.
