KARACHI (Staff Reporter): Nasir Mansoor, deputy general secretary of the National Trade Union Federation, and Bashir Mehmood, representative of the Ship-breaking Workers Union, Gadani, in a joint statement on Friday condemned the Ship-Breaking Owners Association and chamber’s representatives for not committing to implement Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) standards at the ship-breaking sites.  They said the oil tanker fire on November 1 showed violation of laws protecting workers’ rights and lives. They said that owners and industrialists only spoke about their businesses and profits; they didn't learn any lesson from their criminal negligence.
