Nawaz promises development in AJK

| Congratulates PML-N men for winning AJK Council elections

ISLAMABAD -  Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif termed the victory of party leaders, Sardar Abdul Khaliq Wasi and Chaudhry Mohammad Siddique as members of the AJK Council as the confidence of the people of the area in the policies of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led government in Azad Kashmir.

Greeting both these leaders with a thumping majority in the AJK Council elections, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif hoped that they would come up to the expectations of the people of their area by taking forward the development agenda of the PML-N.

Sharif said that his government wanted to extend the development policies of his government to the AJK as well, so that the people of Kashmir could also reap the benefits of the development agenda of the federal government.

The prime minister said that his government believed in development of all parts of the country including the AJK, and wanted to bring the people of under-developed and deprived segments of the society at par with the developed areas of the country.

Sharif said that after getting clear-cut majority in the AJK Legislative Assembly now the party was focusing on development of the area particularly the far-flung areas, which had been neglected over the past several years.

The prime minister said that while working on uplifting the standard of living of the people of the AJK, the people of Pakistan must not forget the people of the occupied Kashmir facing unprecedented atrocities at the hands of the Indian occupation forces.

He reiterated his government’s commitment to raise the issue at all appropriate forums to pressurise India to give right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir, which was guaranteed to them by the United Nations.
