Rawalpindi-An oil tanker overturned at Jhelum Road after skidding off the road, sources and police informed The Nation on Friday.

However, no causality or injury was reported. A traffic jam also occurred on GT Road because of overturned oil tanker.

According to sources and police, an oil tanker was taking turn from GT Road to COD at 5am when it skids off the road and overturned. As a result, the oil started oozing oil on GT Road causing gigantic traffic jam, they said. The officials of law enforcement agencies and other rescue departments also rushed to the site and the tanker was removed from road with the help of heavy cranes. City Traffic Police blocked the road by placing barriers during the rescue operation. Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station (PS) Civil Line Malik Aftab, when contacted, confirmed that oil tanker overturned while taking a sharp turn at Jhelum Road early in the wee hours.  He said the driver and conductors were arrested by police while further investigation was underway.

On the other hand, a team of district health department along with local police carried out a raid on a factory at Saidpur Road in which fake drugs were being manufactured. Two workers of the factory were arrested by police besides registration of a case against them with PS Banni. The raiding team also seized huge quantity of spurious drugs.

Meanwhile, Anti Corruption Establishment Rawalpindi Region have nabbed three fraudsters on charges of selling land worth of Rs 60 million on fake documents in a private housing society located on Adiala Road. A case was registered against the accused who have been identified as Rana Yasin, Shamim and Iftikhar. Further investigation was underway, an ACE official said.
