LAHORE - Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar M Khan honoured the Pakistan disabled cricket team and Wheelchair Cricket Association (WCA) in a ceremony held here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.
Addressing the players, Shaharyar, flanked by PCB Chief Operating Officer (COO) Subhan Ahmad and Domestic Cricket General Manager Shafiq Ahmad, appreciated the disabled cricket team for putting up a splendid performance and winning the 2nd ICC Academy Physically Disabled Cup 2016, recently held in Dubai. He also praised the performance of Hasnain Alam, who had scored a century in the earlier match of the tournament and was declared the best player in the final.
Shaharyar said disabled cricket team had won laurels for the country by winning the mega tournament and the whole nation was proud of their impressive performance. “The disabled cricket team and wheelchair cricket team with their performances has set an example for disabled people. You are ambassadors of Pakistan and have proved this fact through excellent teamwork on and off the field. On this auspicious occasion," he said.
On this auspicious occasion, the PCB chief also pledged his support to the disabled cricket on behalf of the cricket board and gave away a cheque of Rs 500,000 to the disabled cricket team and a cheque of Rs 200,000 to the Wheelchair Cricket Association.
The representatives of disabled cricket and wheelchair cricket association also thanked the PCB chairman for honouring them and extending their support for disabled cricket. “We will try our best to continue such good performances in the upcoming events and also continue winning laurels for our country.”
