PESHAWAR -  The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Friday approved 38 projects with an estimated cost of Rs23,328.215 million.

The forum considered 51 projects pertaining to different sectors including higher education, sports and tourism, agriculture, health, social welfare, water, local government, multi-sectoral development, and roads for the uplift of the province. Over 13 projects were deferred due to inadequate designs.

PDWP held its meeting under the chairmanship of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Additional Chief Secretary Muhammad Azam Khan on Friday. The meeting was attended by Shahab Ali Shah, Secretary PD Department, its members and respective administrative secretaries.

In elementary and secondary education sector, approved projects included strengthening of Planning Cell in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, establishment of model school in Upper Dir, GGHSS at Khwaja Rashak PK-24 Mardan, Mir Aman Killi Jahangirabad PK-26 Mardan, Bamolai PK-97 Lower Dir, Nishot PK-90 Chitral, BehramKhel PK-75 Lakki Marwat, Dabli Lawager PK-41 District Karak, Chandakhuram at VC Jatta Ismail Khel PK-40 Karak, Onadherai PK-84 Swat, Kala kelay PK-83 Swat, Dagha Patay PK-82 Swat, MongayBalambat PK-94 Dir Lower, standardisation of 200 higher secondary schools in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

In higher education sector, approved projects were establishment of GDC Razar PK-32 District Swabi, and Kurram Par District Lakki Marwat, construction of building for Directorate of Higher Education, Project Management Unit for implementation of BS programme and special initiatives, establishment of 15 government colleges in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa for boys and girls (Phase-IV), and establishment of GDC Lora Abbottabad. Sports and tourism sector projects included improvement, and restoration and rehabilitation of existing sports facilities in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

In health sector, approved projects were upgradation of BHU Barshawar to RHC, District Swat, upgradation of BHU Darmal to RHC in Tehsil Matta, District Swat, Establishment of Children and Maternity Hospital Charsadda.

The only approved project in social welfare sector was construction of Social Welfare Complex in Nowshera.

Installation of solar augmentation/irrigation tube wells in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, improvement /construction of canals, channels, drainage system and flood protection structures in District Charsadda, improvement and upgradation of roads and construction of bridges along canals and drains in District Charsadda, construction and improvement of roads along canals and drains including link roads in Kheshki Bala and Payan area district Nowshera, improvement and lining of Rashakai minor and upgradation of canal patrol road along Rashakai Minor, Bara Banda Minor, Nowshera Minor and Torlandi Minor, Mardan Irrigation Division, construction and improvement of irrigation channels, bridges, small storage ponds and drainage systems in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, construction and installation of augmentation and irrigation tube wells in District Charsadda, construction and improvement of irrigation infrastructure including FPW, channels roads and tube wells in Adenzai and adjoining areas of District Dir Lower, construction and improvement of Canal Patrol Road along Mala Minor, Kamran Zeb Shaheed Road from head to tail Mardan, improvement and widening of road along Pehur Main Canal and its sub system, Partugai Drainage System and  other small tributaries District Swabi, improvement of Canal Patrol Road along Lower Swat Canal, District Charsadda, construction of road on right side from Charsadda Takht Bai road crossing to Motorway Interchange and Kiramat Minor, District Charsadda, revamping of Jindi River District Charsadda were the projects improved in the water sector.

The only approved project in Local Government sector was development package for District Bunir. In the multi-sectoral development sector, the only approved project was Tele Agri/E-Agriculture District Nowshera and Peshawar.

In the road sector, the approved projects were F/S, design and construction of RCC bridge at Ayun, Chitral, Peshawar Ring Road to Badaber via Surezai (16km) (Phase-I), District Peshawar, Construction of Asband Swat (3 km), Shursheen, Joro Kashmir (2km), Ghazo Chat Pat, Deghan (1km), Dheri Tesko (3km), Oskai (1.5km), Laiko (1km), Naw Kalay Bochake (2km), Mayar Dogha (2km) Lower Dir, Project Implementation Unit (PIU) ADB Assisted Provincial Road Rehabilitation Project, rehabilitation of internal roads in Chitral and Drosh cities, District Chitralm, reconstruction of bridge at Tor Warsak Daggar widening and improvement of 18km leftover portion of Swarai Pir Qilla Puran Road, District Buner.

In the IT sector, the only approved project was Prison Management Information System in Central Jail Peshawar.

The only approved project in Auqaf sector was construction and rehabilitation of Darul Uloom Haqannia, Akora Khattak.
