QUETTA - Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai MNA yesterday said Peaceful Afghanistan was a must for the success of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

He was addressing a mammoth public gathering held in district Pishin to remember Abdus Samad Khan Achakzai alias Khan Shaheed on his 43rd death anniversary. He paid glowing tributes to Khan Shaheed over the unmatchable struggle he did for the cause of the oppressed people against imperialist rulers and said he was an indomitable and indefatigable frontline hero of the subcontinent’s liberation movement.

Commenting on regional and Pakistan affairs, Achakzai warned of extremely unsuitable circumstances all around the region, saying any blunder could push the region into a dangerous war.

Mehmood Achakzai said economic as well as political stability of the country was linked with peaceful Afghanistan, so Pakistan must change its policy towards neighbouring countries, in general, and towards Afghanistan, in particular. The verbal assertions of Pakistan cannot work for durable and stable Afghanistan unless the former practically changes its foreign policy towards Afghanistan, articulated the PkMAP Chairman.

Mehmood Khan said neither China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) could take off, nor could any political, social and industrial progress be achieved in Pakistan unless all federating units were given their constitutionally approved due rights from their resources.

The PkMAP chairman flayed the critics of CPEC, saying there were issues more important for Pashtoons than CPEC to be focussed on as their rivers, gas, oil and properties were in the custody of others. Despite this all, PkMAP offered that a team of experts from any Pashtoon, political or religious party should prepare a comprehensive document to determine the share of Pashtoon nation in CPEC.

“We will not only endorse it, but will also present it to the prime minister and play a role for its achievements,” he said.

Mehmood Khan Achakzai said all federating units should be given their constitutionally accepted rights, which would not only strengthen Pakistan politically and economically, but also transform the dream of prosperity and development into reality.

Achakzai said the supremacy of the Constitution and parliament was the only way forward to avoid the gloomy future and enable Pakistan to pursue its internal and external policies.

Corruption in every institution, ranging from army to judiciary, from politicians to bureaucrats and from civil society to media, has shaken the very foundation of Pakistan, asserted Mehmood Khan Achakzai.

The PkMAP chairman appealed to all Pashtoon parties to forge unity for the cause of Pashtoons and urged them to continue their struggle for a democratic Pakistan in which all the province and communities could get their constitutional rights.
