LAHORE - Brick kiln workers have celebrated International Anti-Slavery Day under the ages of Bonded Labour Liberation Front (BLLF) Pakistan.
A rally was held which started from Lawrence Road to the Lahore Press Club here on Friday.
Addressing the rally, Secretary General BLLF Syeda Ghulam Fatima demanded the bricks kiln owners to implement minimum wages. She said minimum wage was fixed as Rs 1,036 for making one thousand ordinary bricks while owners were paying only Rs.600. There was also no social security cards and other protection for the brick kiln workers, she added.
Mahar Safdar Ali, Executive member BLLF, said children of brick kiln workers were deprived of education and other basic necessities.
