ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Senator Dr. Babar Awan called on Prime Minister, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at the PM's House on Monday and briefed him about the winding up of the debate on President's address to the joint sitting of the Parliament. The Prime Minister said that democracy was flourishing in the country and would take further momentum in the time to come. He said that the Parliament was the supreme legislative body where all major decisions were being taken. He said the government was committed to further strengthening the state institutions and to make them more efficient so that they serve the masses across the country and people could reap its benefits. He said, "democracy is the best system and expressed the confidence that through this system the country would be able to overcome the challenges it is currently faced with". The Prime Minister said the government would utilize all resources to improve the standard of governance in the areas identified by the President in his speech. The Prime Minister congratulated the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs on the successful conclusion of the debate on President's address and hoped that parliamentary norms would be upheld in a similar manner in the days to come.
