LAHORE - Wateen, Pakistan's leading communications and technology company was one of the main sponsors at the recently held 'Anti- Terrorism & Disaster Management Conference and Exhibition" which took place from January 21, 23 '2009 at the Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi. The conference and a large scale corporate event was organised to help showcase products beneficial in tackling security related threats and produced presentations on high-scale security solutions by various local and international vendors. Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza and National Disaster Management Authority Chairman Gen (r) Farooq Ahmed Khan chaired the various sessions respectively wherein experts like Dr Rohan Gunaratna from Nanyang Technological University Singapore, Sindh Inspector General of Police Sultan Sallahuddin Babar Khattak, Sharfuddin Memon, Chief CPLC and Security 2000 President Brig (r) Rashid Ahmed Malik gave presentations on Anti-Terrorism, Public Safety, Security and Disaster management to the attending delegates of the conference. Wateen Telecom Video Surveillance Product Head Adil Mir and Solutions Department Head Ahsan Akhtar gave demonstrations to the audience on advanced Video Surveillance IP Based Systems. These can be enhanced with motion detection, sound surveillance, 360 degrees focus and a variety of applications. The two-day conference and exhibition had more than 15 companies including ACS, Wateen, G4S, HESCO Barriers and Security 2000 talk about, present and showcase the latest and most effective anti-terror security products and solutions available in the region. The event was the first of its kind with hundreds of visitors showed up and most looked forward to participate in more such events in the future. Wateen further reiterated it's commitment to Pakistan by sponsoring a strategic event of this nature which was held at a time when security and terrorism is a hotly debated issue in Pakistan and the rest of the world.
