KARACHI (PPI) - As many as 123 people were killed and 65 injured in target killing, 12 in firing and 30 people in traffic related incidents in Karachi during the month of January 2010. Besides nine tortured marked bodies were found, three people committed suicide and two abducted in Karachi during the same month, said a report issued by Human Rights Network (HRN) Karachi. During the month of January, the incidents of target killings in Karachi remained high as 65 people were targeted and killed in different areas of the city, affiliated to different political parties, while 12 people were also killed in various firing incidents and eight others sustained injuries. The report revealed that at least 30 people lost their lives in traffic-related incidents in Karachi while 16 others were also killed in various incidents including electrocution, falling from roofs and other accidental mishaps. Two people were also kidnapped including a girl from the city. Four people killed in arson incidents, two perished while offering resistance to dacoits and two others gunned down on financial and family disputes. Nine tortured marked bodies were found from different parts of the city, while an alleged robber was killed in police encounter in January. Arson incidents - At least eight shops, four flats and 10 huts were completely burnt in two separate fire incidents in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Chawla Market Nazimabad.
