ISLAMABAD President Asif Ali Zardari has insisted on visiting Balochistan and NWFP as part of his direct public contact campaign, notwithstanding, the intelligence apparatus has pointed out serious security constraints. Authorities responsible for the Presidents security have declined to give clearance for his visits to Balochistan and NWFP, official sources told TheNation. However, they rushed to add that the President was determined to complete his campaign as he had already visited Sindh and Punjab. The issue of the Presidents visits was also discussed during a high-level meeting of the PPP leadership at the Presidency under him. Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani co-chaired it. According to an official handout, those who attended the meeting included Senator Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, Chaudhary Ahmed Mukhtar, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Rehman A. Malik, Syed Naveed Qamar, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Jahangir Badar, Rukhsana Bangash, Fauzia Habib, Senator Faisal Raza Abidi and Spokesperson to the President former Senator Farhatullah Babar. Babar told the media that the meeting discussed the overall political situation, local government elections, recently held by-elections and the forthcoming by-elections. Presidents forthcoming visits to NWFP and Balochistan also came under discussion. The meeting also reviewed Presidents just concluded visit to Karachi.
