PESHAWAR - All Primary Teacher Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has set four conditions for participating in ‘Sihat Ka Insaf’ programme and decided that they will not participate in this campaign till meeting their demands.

Talking to The Nation, President of All Primary Teacher Association Malik Khalid Khan said that forcing teachers to launch polio campaign is not a wise decision on the part of government. He explained that four of their teachers, including two females of Peshawar, were killed during the campaign but still they have not been compensated through Shuhada packages.

He maintained that there are four demands of the teachers, including provision of foolproof security, compensation to victim teachers, recruiting one person of each martyred family in government jobs and provision of vaccination services inside school premises.

He observed that it is not the duty of teachers to immunize children and visit door-to-door but instead of this the government should hire paramedics and volunteers to perform this duty.

He said that on one hand they are demanding good results from the teachers in examinations while on the other hand they are handing over extra-responsibilities to respectable community of the society.
