SADIQABAD

Citizens held protest as small vendors and shopkeepers have grabbed land in front of their shops and on various roads of Sadiqabad city with alleged connivance of Tehsil Council personnel and encroachment mafia.

Because of the encroachments spread over many feet, the motorists and pedestrians have to suffer difficulties in carrying out their routine matters in the city. Besides, illegal rickshaw stands have also been set up thereby causing frequent traffic jams at Railway Chowk. Against the situation, citizens including Ali Raza, M Shahzad,  Ghaffar, Iqbal, Yaqoob, Irfan, Ziaur Rehman, Ammar, M Aslam and Usman among others held a protest demonstration.

The severely affected roads and business points include the Railway Road, Sattar Shaheed Road, Main Bazaar, Water Supply Road, Hospital Road, Faisal Bazaar and Qazafi Bazaar. In these areas, the shopkeepers have encroached areas spreading on many feet, thereby creating problems for the visitors. Vendors have created problems for the motorists and pedestrians by establishing make-shift set-ups even on the roads. The protesters alleged that the Tehsil Council personnel are patronising the shopkeeper and other encroachers.

POOR SANITATION SYSTEM: The people are forced to drink sewage-mixed water due to which various disease are rapidly spreading in the areas. However, the people are unable to get medically treated as they lack financial resources and living hand-to-mouth life.  The protesters demanded that the administration should reconstruct the sewage system for betterment of the local people. In the this regard, the worse hit are the residents of Mohallah Ghaforabad, Husainabad, Warind Colony, Mazhar Farid Colony Mohallah, Janlandharan and Tibba Zahir Pir in Sadiqabad. The residents said that they had repeatedly brought the situation into the notice of the Tehsil Municipal Administration but to no avail. The residents of Tibba Zahir Pir area took to the streets as sewerage water has accumulated due to choked sewer pipelines there.
