LAHORE - The Lahore High Court Monday restrained the Punjab government from canceling the registration of Idara Minhajul Quran for its alleged involvement in using funds collected for educational purposes purely on political purposes and campaigns.
Justice Ijazul Ahsan of the LHC heard the case. The judge also directed the Punjab government to submit written reply and adjourned further proceedings for two weeks.  Muhammad Mustafa secretary general of Minhajul Quran Secretariat had filed the petition challenging the notice for cancellation of registration issued by the Punjab government.
The petitioner stated that the registrar joint stock company on December 20, 2014 had sent the impugned notice by accusing to misuse the Adara funds for purchase of bulletproof vehicle and container.
He said that against more than Rs 14.3 million a bulletproof vehicle was purchase for Adara’s head Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri and Pakistan Awami Tehrek workers who needed protection after Dr Qadri issued a Fatwa against terrorism.
The petitioner told the judge that after Model Town incident wherein more 15 people lost their lives and more than 85 others got serious injuries, the ruling elite was political victimizing the Secretariat and its workers. However, he said that the secretariat had sent a written reply to Registrar Joint Stock Company.
The petitioner requested the judge to declare the issuance of notice as null and void and should restrain the government from cancelling the registration of Minhajul Quran and from harassing its workers.
