LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the critics of biggest-ever project in country’s public transport sector are, in fact, hostile to the progress in Pakistan.

“Biggest ever compensation package has been announced for the people affected by Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project, and every affected person will be paid full compensation and demands of justice will be fulfilled,” the chief minister said yesterday.

He was presiding over a high-level meeting which reviewed in detail the pace of construction of Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project and the process of payment of compensation to the affected people.

The CM, on the occasion, issued instructions to complete payment of compensation within next few days. He said he will personally monitor the whole process.

Shahbaz Sharif also directed the authorities to immediately set up separate camps for men and women for the payment of compensation. “All necessary steps should be taken to facilitate the affected people in these camps.

“Transport should also be arranged for the people affected for visiting the camps and the payment process should be continued round the clock,” he added. Provincial ministers, assembly members and the authorities concerned should remain present in the camps, the CM directed.

Separately, Senator Jehanzeb Jamaldini of Balochistan National Party and Member Central Committee Rauf Mengal called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here yesterday. Matters of mutual interest and promotion of inter-provincial harmony were discussed in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that collective efforts were needed for progress and prosperity of the country. “Development of all provinces will be progress of Pakistan,” he added.

Shahbaz Sharif told the Baloch leaders that students from four provinces have been included in educational programmes of Punjab, and this step has promoted inter-provincial harmony, brotherhood and national solidarity.

The BNP leaders appreciated the steps taken by Punjab CM for the promotion of inter-provincial harmony.
