LAHORE - Hamza Mawaz Khan and Juan Cruz Losada guided Master Paints/Newage to 7-4½ victory over Barry’s in the Members Polo Cup 2016 match played here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground on Tuesday.

Promising polo player Hamza Mawaz Khan was star of the day as he scored a quartet for Master Paints/Newage while Argentinean Losada played equally well contributing a hat-trick in the team’s triumph. Santiago Oubina scored a brace while Naveed Sheikh and Shah Shamyl Alam hit a goal apiece each for Barry’s.

Barry’s dominated the first chukker through terrific two field goals – one each by Santiago and Naveed Sheikh - to take 2-0 lead which was later reduced by Hamza to finish the chukker at 2-1. The second chukker saw only field goal from Losada while the third chukker was fully commanded by Hamza with his terrific two field goals to stretch his team’s lead to 4-2.

Five goals were struck in the highly-charged fourth chukker – three by the winners and two by the losers. It was Losada this time who struck twice while Hamza hit one to make it 7-2 but Barry’s did manage to reduce the lead to 7-4 as Shah Shamyl Alam and Santiago scored one goal apiece. The Barry’s half goal handicap advantage finished the match at 7-4½. Hissam Ali Hyder and Fedrick officiated the match as field umpires while Raja Taimur Nadeem was referee.

Sterling Saqib Khan Khakwani struck four to guide Diamond Paints to 10-6½ triumph over Adisseo in another match of the event here at the same venue. Besides Saqib, Raja Taimur Nadeem, Mir Shoaib Ahmed and Ahmed Ali Tiwana also scored a brace each. Shah Qubilai Alam hammered four goals and Abdul Rehman Monnoo hit one for the losers. With one and half goal handicap advantage for Adisseo, the final score was 10-6½. Santiago Oubina and Maj Omer Minhas were field umpires and Hamid Mannan was referee.
