Veteran politician Javed Hashmi has said that he does not intend to join any political party currently and will decide about his political future at an appropriate time after consultation with his friends.

He was talking to the media men at the residence of former Lahore High Court adhoc judge Justice (r) Chaudhry Saghir Ahmad Dhallon here in village 126/R.

Hashmi held that Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif’s decision not to seek extension in his service is a good omen. “This decision has enhanced his esteem and dignity among the masses,” he added.

Commenting on government announcement regarding in reduction in the prices of petroleum products by Rs 5 per litre, the veteran politician said that the reduction is highly insufficient. “Government should provide relief to people by slashing POL prices in proportion to reduction in oil prices in the international market,” he emphasised.

He went on to say that terrorists attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda is a national tragedy. “Closing down schools for fear of terrorists is not a solution to this problem,” he pointed out, adding that full security must be provided to the educational institutions to counter-terrorism.

He declared Pathan Kot incident as a deep conspiracy which, he said, aimed at maligning Pakistan, adding that the government should take all political parties on board for lasting resolution of Kashmir issue and success of talks between Pakistan and India.
