ISLAMABAD - National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Tuesday has approved the summery pertaining to decrease power prices by Rs 3.83 per unit.

Nepra held a hearing over CPPA plea after which it was decided that the electricity would be made cheap under December’s fuel adjustment as the fuel cost was recorded as Rs 5.45. The distribution companies took Rs 2.64 additional from the consumers.

Nepra said that the people got relief after one month delay while six billion, sixty-seven crore and thirty-eight lac units were utilized last month. The cost of power through high speed diesel was Rs 13.50/ unit while electricity was also imported from Iran for Rs 10.50/unit.

The authorities assured to provide relief to the people by reducing prices however, the decision would not be implemented on those using 300 units/months and K-Electric consumers.
