PESHAWAR - Calling for taking up Kashmir issue effectively in the United Nations, Difa-e-Pakistan Council on Friday staged a protest demonstration and declared that they were with Kashmiri people who have been struggling for self-determination.
The DPC took out a rally from Fawara Chowk in Saddar Bazaar and turned into a big gathering in front of the Peshawar Press Club where local office-bearers of the council addressed the participants who vowed to continue support of innocent Kashmiris.
Holding banners and placards inscribed with different slogans in the support of Kashmiri people struggle for self-determination, they also chanted slogans asked India to stop atrocities being committed against Kashmiri people.
Led by Mufti Mohammad Qasim, office-bearers of Jumat-u-Dawa Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Yawar Aftab, Ghazi Inamullah and others, said that Indian forces were involved in killing and torturing Kashmiri people, who have been struggling for liberation.
They said that they had named 2018 as Kashmir year and would also highlight the struggle of Kashmir liberation from today and would continue till February 10 by organising public meetings and rallies in support of Kashmiri people.
They called upon the Indian government to call back over 0.8 million army currently present in Indian occupied Kashmir.
They said that peace could not return in the region until the liberation of Kashmir. They called upon the government to utilise all channels and present Kashmir case more effectively in the UN.
