GUJRANWALA-Rescue 1122 staff went on strike against registration of a case and arrest of 10 rescue officials allegedly involved in torture on lawyers.
All the rescue staff also staged a sit-in at Chanda Qila Chowk, blocking all linked roads for all sort of traffic. The traffic jam caused multiple problems for people, especially those travelling from Lahore to Gujranwala. In the meanwhile, the AC (city) rushed to the scene and held negotiation with the protesting rescue officials but they refused to end the protest till cancellation of the case and release of the arrested rescue officials.
The rescue officials informed the media that lawyers not only tortured the rescue officials but also got registered a false case against them. Receiving information about the protest, the Rescue 1122 Punjab DG also reached Gujranwala and held a meeting with the Divisional Commissioner.
Later, in the evening the rescue officials after getting assurance of cancellation the case dispersed peacefully.
