Sydney Cricket Ground (SGC), where the second Test match between Australia and Pakistan will be played from Sunday (January 3), is happy hunting ground for Australia. They have won 53, lost 27 and drew 17 in 97 Test matches played at this ground. On the other hand, Pakistan have won two, lost three and drew one in six Test matches. Situated in Moore Park in the citys east, the Sydney Cricket Ground is one of the worlds most famous cricketing venues. For a stadium in a major centre, it has a relatively limited capacity, a little over 40,000, but this has the direct benefit of ensuring that spectators are close to the action from virtually any point in the ground. Its limited capacity is, in fact, essentially the result of the extension over recent years of seating to most parts of a stadium now devoid of its long famous hill and instead dominated by the Brewongle, Churchill, OReilly, Noble and Doug Walters Stands. The green-roofed Ladies pavilion remains, still one of crickets most famous landmarks. The very first match between the two teams at Sydney Cricket Ground was played in 1972-73 series which Australia won by 52 runs. Pakistans first victory over Australia at this ground came in the 1976-77 series when they beat the home team by eight wickets.
